Vanuatu
in August 2007Early August I left to go to Vanuatu for a week, and from there to New Cal, also for a week. One to get away from cold winter Melbourne, and two to travel.
In Port Villa (Vanuatu) we stayed (me and Aaron) at Nomad's Moorings. The beds were small and the shower didn't have a door so the water filled the bathroom, but the food at the restaurant was good and we were right on the water. The people in Vanuatu were great, friendly is accurate and holidaying there was cheap.
I ventured out of Port Villa on my lonesome on a few occasions to try and find surf. A bus trip, which you can hail from the side of the road only costs about 20c Australian. I bus drivers were mostly tolerant of my lugging a six foot board inside except for a trip I caught during peak hour were the board rested atop five locals heads, I gave the driver the 200 Vatus (about 40 cents) for his troubles.
I managed to find a few waves at a place called Pango Point. It was about 3-4 foot, but the wind, which came up everyday I was there from 9:30, ruined the swell, also it was a little shallow.

The highligh of the trip was a visit to the Cascades Waterfalls near Melle village. I took heaps of photos, and I'll upload some more soon.
